Animal Fun

We recently spent one of our CSR days, which we can use for socially responsible activities during work hours, at the Hochtaunus animal shelter in Oberursel. We spent a long time thinking about who might need our help most, and we finally came to the conclusion that we wanted to support those who don’t have a voice.

At the shelter, we were welcomed by a number of different animals – dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds – who are either looking for a new home or are temporarily spending time there while their masters are on holiday. It was exciting to experience a guided tour through the shelter during which the animals and their very different stories were told to us. It was sad to hear the fate that one or another animal has already suffered. And at the same time, it was nice to see that the animals have found a loving home again at the Hochtaunus shelter, where the staff and volunteers make every effort to make sure that they are well.

Finally, we also got our hands dirty: We cleaned and mucked out the stables, fed the animals and provided fresh drinking water. And of course, we were also able to get to know some of the animals a little better by petting and spending time with them. We would have liked to take some of them with us so that our office dog could have some company.

Like every animal shelter, the Hochtaunus shelter is also dependent on donations in order to be able to offer the animals a new long-term home — how good that we were able to hand over a donation of EUR 1,000.00 This came about because our GMS team had recently set up a cash jar where everyone who made a bad joke had to pay in. Scarcely EUR 100 came together, however OTRS AG extended the amount by another 900 euro. Thus, we had a successful conclusion of our day and were able to hand over a check of EUR 1,000.00 to the animal home.
